Basketball BC & Fraser Valley Bandits Partner to Host British Columbia 3x3 Canada Quest

LANGLEY, B.C. - Basketball BC and the Fraser Valley Bandits will partner to host the British Columbia 3x3 Canada Quest tournament presented by Essence Properties at Langley Events Centre (LEC) on June 4th and 5th.

The 3x3 event will host youth divisions at the U13, U15, U16/17 and U17/U18 levels as well as Recreational and Open/Elite Adult divisions. The winners of the Men's and Women's Open Divisions in each of the 3x3 Canada Quest Provincial Qualifier tournaments will qualify for the 3x3 Canada Quest Finals, taking place July 8-10, 2022 in Toronto, Ont. Winning Men's and Women's teams will have all travel and accommodation expenses covered to the 3x3 Canada Quest Finals, where they will have the chance to compete for a $15,000 prize. Winner of the 3x3 Canada Quest Men's Final will also earn a berth in an international FIBA 3x3 Event.

Registration is now open for youth and adult teams. Teams interested in registering can do so now. Registration closes Friday, May 27, 2022.

"We are excited to work with the Fraser Valley Bandits on our first 3x3 basketball event of 2022, building off of the success of Summer Slam 3x3 in 2021 that saw more than 80 teams and 250 athletes compete across adult and youth divisions last Labour Day weekend," said Connor Ranspot, Manager of Youth Programs and Special Events for Basketball BC.

"3x3 basketball is growing in popularity in British Columbia and we are excited to work with Basketball BC to provide more opportunities for adult and youth athletes to experience this fast-paced and exciting brand of basketball," added Bandits President Dylan Kular.

The 2022 3x3 Canada Quest Qualifier represents another exciting component of Basketball BC and the Fraser Valley Bandits' multi-faceted partnership, which has seen the provincial sport organization and professional basketball club partner on a number of initiatives including the 2021 Summer Slam 3x3 tournament and the inaugural BC Basketball Festival taking place this summer between June 16-19.

Teams and athletes will have another great opportunity to experience 3x3 basketball the weekend of September 3-4 at 2022's edition of Summer Slam 3x3, which is set to take place at LEC. Registration will open and further details on Summer Slam 3x3 will be released this summer.

A unique spin on the traditional 5x5 game, 3x3 basketball features only three players per team, a shortened shot clock and game clock, as well as a half-court for the field of play. Games are frequently hosted outdoors in a festival-type atmosphere. FIBA 3x3 tournaments are hosted around the world and the sport made its Olympic debut in Tokyo in the summer of 2021.
