WEEKEND RECAP: The Barrie Colts posted a 1-2 record over the weekend to extend their overall record to 28-32-3-3 on the season with 62 points....They began the weekend with a 5-2 home victory Thursday evening against the Sudbury Wolves, and then followed that with two losses on the road, a 2-1 decision Friday in Ottawa and a 4-2 defeat Saturday at the Yardmen Arena in Belleville...With two games left in their regular season schedule, the Colts hold the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference standings...They are two back of the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, three ahead of the Ottawa 67's, and five ahead of the eighth place Peterborough Petes....Looking at the club's home and away record, they are 16-15-1-1 at the Molson Centre and 12-17-2-2 on the road going into their final two games
March 8 @ BELLEVILLE: The Barrie Colts concluded their weekend with their third game in as many nights and dropped a 4-2 decision while visiting the Belleville Bulls Saturday night at the Yardmen Arena....The Bulls went ahead 3-0 at the 11:30 mark of the second period, and then the Colts started to come back and made the game 3-2 through two periods....Ryan Berard (15) and Daniel Michalsky (17) each scored second period goals for the visiting Colts, while Tomas Marcinko, Jaroslav Kruzik and Alex Hutchings each added assists.....Michael Hutchinson appeared in goal and kicked aside 32 of the 36 Belleville shots that he faced.....Four different goal scorers factored in on the scoring for the Eastern Conference leading Bulls

March 7 @ OTTAWA: The Barrie Colts continued their three game in three day weekend Friday night in the nation's capital and came up on the short end of a 2-1 decision against the Ottawa 67's in front of 7,506 fans at the Ottawa Civic Centre...Both teams exchanged first period goals, with Brett Valliquette (7) scoring for Ottawa, and Tyson Aitcheson (3) for the Colts....A third period goal by Adam Zamec (17) at the 4:25 mark on a powerplay gave the 67's their second lead, one they would keep on their way to victory....The Colts were outshot 28 to 20, and both teams' chances were limited throughout the hockey game....Peter Di Salvo played a steady game in goal for the visiting Colts and kicked aside 26 Ottawa shots.....Tomas Marcinko and Daniel Michalsky added assists on the Aitcheson goal, a powerplay marker at 17:52 of the first period

March 6 vs. SUDBURY: The Barrie Colts started their weekend schedule off on the right foot as they defeated the Sudbury Wolves by a score of 5-2 Thursday night in front of 3,583 fans at the Barrie Molson Centre....Alex Hutchings and Daniel Michalsky were the offensive catalysts for the home side, as they each recorded three point nights...Michalsky had a goal (16) and two assists, while Hutchings came a few steps closer to the 30-goal mark with two goals (28,29) and one assist.....Kyle van de Bospoort also scored, his first of the season, while Cory McGillis (18) added the other....Michael Hutchinson played a stellar game in goal and kicked aside 37 Sudbury shots to gain the victory and improve his overall record to 12-13-2-2 on the season....The Wolves opened the game's scoring as John Kurtz tallied at the 8:44 mark of the first period, but it was all Barrie from there....They got their legs going and established a 4-1 lead through two periods....With the victory, Barrie moves to 62 points on the season

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Barrie Colts will conclude their regular season schedule with one game each on the road and at home, as they will travel to Brampton to face the Battalion (39-22-1-2) on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and then close it out at home when they host the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors (30-31-2-2) Saturday at the Barrie Molson Centre (7:30 p.m.).....The Colts have posted a 3-1-0-1 overall record in five previous regular season meetings against the Battalion, including a 3-1 loss in their latest meeting on March 1 in Barrie.....The Colts have outscored the Battalion 16-13 in the regular season series, as the Battalion enter their game Wednesday in Peterborough looking for a victory to widen their cushion on first in the Central Division over the Niagara Ice Dogs...They currently lead the Ice Dogs by three points, and each team has three games remaining...The Colts then return home Saturday to host a team they have had troubles with this season; the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors...The Majors lead the series through five games with a 4-1-0-0 record, having outscored the Colts 20-12....Currently just two points separate these two teams, as the Majors have one game in hand on Barrie....Mississauga also hosts Niagara on Friday and will close their regular season out on Sunday in Oshawa

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Colts practice this week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at the Molson Centre (3:15 - 4:45) in preparation for games Friday in Brampton and Saturday at home to Mississauga
SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK: Barrie's powerplay is currently tied for 15th overall in the OHL with an efficiency rate of 16.9% with 64 goals on 379 man-advantage opportunities....On the other side, the penalty-kill is tied for sixth overall at 82.8% having killed off 308 of the 372 shorthanded situations they have faced
GOALS FOR AND AGAINST: The Colts have scored 184 goals and have allowed 214, placing them in 19th and 8th respectively throughout the OHL in these categories
ST. PATRICK'S DAY KICK-OFF: The Barrie Colts will host their Annual St. Patrick's Day theme game this Saturday against the Mississauga Majors....The team will wear green celebratory jerseys, and they will be auctioned off at the conclusion of the game in a LIVE auction at the Colts' bench....In addition, St. Patrick's theme hats will be handed out to the first 500 people through the gates, free face-painting will be available for children, and there will be free Guiness beer samples available in Casey's Restaurant & Grill
