WEEKEND RECAP: The Barrie Colts came up short in three decisions over the weekend as their overall record now stands at 17-14-1-1 on the season with 36 points.....They are just three points behind the Brampton Battalion for first place in the Central Division standings.....The Colts started the weekend off at home Thursday night and dropped a 6-3 decision to the Kingston Frontenacs....They then ventured out on a two game Western road swing that started Saturday night in Plymouth...Barrie dropped a 4-1 decision to the defending OHL Champions, and then closed the weekend out with a 5-1 defeat Sunday afternoon against the Windsor Spitfires....The Colts are now 9-6-0-0 this season on home ice and 8-8-1-1 on the road

December 9 @ WINDSOR: The Barrie Colts capped off a tough weekend Sunday afternoon as they dropped a 5-1 decision to the Windsor Spitfires at the Windsor Arena....The Colts were outshot 70-18, as Andrew Perugini kept the Colts within reach as he made 65 saves....The loss keeps the Colts at 36 points on the season, and they are three point back of the Brampton Battalion for first place in the Central Division...Vladimir Nikiforov (20) provided the offense Sunday afternoon as he gave the Colts a 1-0 lead at 19:04 of the first period.....The Spits struck just 25 seconds later and added one in the second and three in the third to go on to the victory.....Jason Bailey and Matt Ellis led the way offensively for the Spits as each provided 2 points (1g-1a) in the game....The game closes out Barrie's two-game Western road trip as the club has dropped four straight games overall

December 8 @ PLYMOUTH: The Barrie Colts dropped the first game of a two-game road trip Saturday night as they were defeated by a score of 4-1 to the Plymouth Whalers.....The Whalers came out fiesty and pulled ahead to a 4-0 lead before Alex Hutchings (11) spoiled the shutout bid at the 11:29 mark of the third period....For the Colts, the loss is their third in a row, and the club remains just a single point behind the Brampton Battalion for first place in the Central Division standings....Michael Hutchinson made his second career start in Plymouth and made 31 saves to even his record at the Compuware Arena to 1-1....Kyle Clifford registered the lone assist on the Hutchings goal....A.J. Jenks provided the offensive spark Saturday for the home side as he paced the Whalers squad with three goals (16,17,18).....Chris Terry added the other, his 20th of the season

December 6 vs. KINGSTON: The Barrie Colts (17-12-1-1) came up on the short end of a 6-3 decision Thursday night against the Kingston Frontenacs at the Barrie Molson Centre....The Fronts came out with more jump and went ahead 2-0 in the first period and never looked back the rest of the way....The Colts allowed two more in each of the second and third, and made a late push themselves, but could not put together enough sustained offense to get anything else past Fronts goalie Jason Guy....Daniel Michalsky (10), Brian Lashoff (3) and Jaroslav Kruzik (2) each scored goals for the Colts, and Andrew Perugini made 24 saves and sustained the loss in goal.....Stefan Della Rovere, Alex Hutchings, Michalsky, Nikiforov, with a pair, and Tomas Marcinko, each added assists for the home side....Jason Guy recorded 33 saves and posted the victory in goal for Kingston, and Bobby Mignardi led them offensively with a pair of goals

WHAT'S ON TAP: The Barrie Colts have three more games scheduled this week before they travel back to their hometowns for the Christmas break....The Colts host the Owen Sound Attack (12-18-2-0) Thursday at the Barrie Molson Centre before traveling to St. Catharines Friday (7:30 p.m.) for a meeting with the Niagara Ice Dogs (16-14-0-1) and then back home Saturday for a home game (7:30 p.m.) against the Sarnia Sting (17-15-0-0).......The Colts have gained victories in both contests against the Attack this season.....Both have been in Owen Sound and the Colts have come away leading the series with a 8-1 margin in goals....The Colts also lead the Ice Dogs in their regular season series having gained two victories in three contests, and they will meet the Sarnia Sting for the first time this season....Barrie has posted a 2-0 victory in Niagara and a 7-3 home victory in their last two meetings with the Ice Dogs

ROSTER UPDATE: The Colts continue to have four regulars out of the lineup with longer term injuries.....Ryan Gottschalk (broken jaw), Cory McGillis (upper body), Kyle van de Bospoort (broken ankle) and Andrew Clouthier (broken jaw) are all currently out and will most likely not return until after the Christmas break

PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The Colts practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at the Molson Centre....All practices run from 3:00 - 4:45 p.m. and are open and free for the public to attend

SPECIAL TEAMS OUTLOOK: Barrie's powerplay improved one position from 14th to 15th from week to week as their efficiency rate is 19.0% with 35 goals on 184 man-advantage opportunities....On the other side, the penalty-kill ranks eighth overall at 81.4% having killed off 153 of the 188 shorthanded situations they have faced

GOALS FOR AND AGAINST: The Colts have scored 103 goals and have allowed 106, placing them tenth and a tie for eleventh respectively throughout the OHL in these categories

TIS' THE SEASON: Several members of the hockey club will be visiting the children's area of the Royal Victoria Hospital this Wednesday to hand out Christmas gifts to kids under medical care....The Colts have made this a holiday tradition over the last few seasons, as all members of the team contribute funds and then go shopping for items to hand out at the hospital.....In addition, the organization will be hosting a gift and food drive for Barrie Christmas Cheer at both home games this week....Fans are encouraged to bring in gifts and non-perishable food items that will be donated to Christmas Cheer....Saturday night when the Colts host Sarnia, the Booster Club will have a Christmas tree in the North Concourse where people can place their presents under

SATURDAY NIGHT FESTIVITIES: The Barrie Colts encourage fans to get their tickets in advance for their Saturday night home game against the Sarnia Sting (7:30 p.m.) as several different fan related festivities will take place....Beginning at 5:30 p.m., free horse drawn sleigh rides will be offered in the North parking lot....When the doors open at 6:30 p.m., free face-painting will be offered in the north concourse for children.....Santa Clause will also make an appearance throughout the hockey game, and a LIVE band will be featured in Casey's Restaurant & Grill and the concourse throughout the night
