Barrie Colts News Release

The Barrie Colts have their first win of the 2026-27 season!

The Colts delivered a statement performance on Saturday night at Sadlon Arena, defeating the Sarnia Sting 5-3 on Rock & Roll Night to earn their first victory of the regular season.

Barrie wasted little time setting the tone, with Assistant Captain Carter Lowe opening the scoring late in the first period. Lowe's goal gave the Colts a 1-0 lead heading into the second and provided an early spark for a team looking to turn the page on a difficult start to the season.

The Colts exploded offensively in the second period, scoring four times to take control of the game.

Phillip Shargorodsky extended Barrie's lead just 2:26 into the period, before Dylan Tsherna added another at 8:56 to make it 3-0. The goal marked another milestone for Tsherna, who scored his first goal as a Colt!

Barrie continued to pour on the pressure, with Eamon Edgar scoring on the power play at 12:47 to make it 4-0.

Sarnia responded with two power-play goals from Jack Van Volsen and Brenner Lammens, cutting the deficit to 4-2 late in the frame.

The Colts answered right back.

With just over two minutes remaining in the second period, Michael Tang restored Barrie's three-goal advantage, making it 5-2.

Barrie carried the three-goal advantage into the third period and shut the door from there, holding Sarnia off the scoresheet to secure the 5-3 victory.

After beginning the season searching for their first win, the Colts finally broke through in front of their home crowd - and did so with a five-goal offensive outburst!

Three Stars of the Game

Second Star - Carter Lowe #85
