Barrage to Take on Reigning Champion Bayhawks Thursday

(Bridgeport, Conn. June 10, 2003) - The Bridgeport Barrage, Connecticut's only professional lacrosse team and a charter member of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), will be taking on the reigning MLL champion Baltimore Bayhawks Thursday, June 12 at 7 p.m.

The Barrage will honor Jack Emmer, the most successful coach in Men's Division I Lacrosse, during the game. Also former Barrage players, Jamie Hanford, a Darien native, and Brian Langtry, an original member of the Barrage from 2001 will both be returning to Bridgeport for the first time since being traded.

Top players for the Barrage include, attackman Roy Colsey, a Bedford Middle School gym teacher and point leader after two games, and midfielder Blake Miller, who recently scored a career high five goals against Boston last Friday placing him second on the scoring list. Two members of Emmer's 2002 USA Lacrosse Team will be in the midfield for the Barrage, including, Doug Shanahan, the 2002 World Championship MVP, who currently leads all face-off specialists in the league with a winning percentage of 73 percent, and Matt Striebel a star playmaker who's presence is always felt.

Baltimore brings a majority of their Championship team back for this season including MLL MVP and Goalie of the Year Greg Cattrano, who has yet to leave the goal in the 120 minutes the Bayhawks have played this season. Attackman Mark Millon, who was named the Offensive Player of the Year in 2002, recently tied a Bayhawks high with eight points against New Jersey this past Thursday. Player/Coach Gary Gait will be anchoring the midfield along with Josh Sims.
