Philadelphia Barrage News Release
Philadelphia, PA (June 22, 2006) - Both the Barrage and the Cannons have displayed the ability to win close games. The Cannons only loss in five games came in overtime against the New Jersey Pride during Week 1. The Barrage have one all but one game by one point, including an overtime come-from-behind win against the Chicago Machine.
Key match-ups in the game are mainly on the defensive end for the Barrage. The biggest one will be Cannons' attackman Conor Gill being guarded by Barrage 2006 MLL All-Star defenseman Brian Spallina. The "Spallina vs. Gill" match-up has a history as the two have been playing against each other year after year since the MLL's inception. "I like to make my statements on the field so all I'll say is I'm looking forward to it but I'm not so sure he is", said Spallina.
The next key match-up is Barrage defenseman Kyle Sweeney marking Cannons' atttackman John Christmas. Christmas, who is in his second year, has exploded onto the MLL scene this season. "John is a dangerous player but most guys are at this level", said Sweeney. The two are originally from the Philadelphia area and know each other well. They were also teammates on the Philadelphia Wings this past winter.
Philadelphia makes their final stop on their road trip at Boston against the Cannons. The Barrage return home on June 29 against the Boston Cannons. Individual tickets are available by calling Ticketmaster at 215-336-2000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Group tickets are available by calling the Barrage ticket office at 610-355-8164.
