Jacksonville Barracudas News Release
Jacksonville, FL- On Friday, March 21, members of the United State's Navy stationed at Mayport will be trading in their blue and white uniforms for skates and jerseys.
The Jacksonville Barracudas will take on the local U.S. Navy hockey team in a charity game to score funds for the U.S Navy Relief Fund and Hockey 4 Kids.
Founded in 1904, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is a private non-profit charitable organization. It is sponsored by the Department of the Navy and operates nearly 250 offices ashore and afloat at Navy and Marine Corps bases throughout the world.
The mission of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society is to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational, and other assistance to members of the Naval Services of the United States, eligible family members, and survivors when in need; and to receive and manage funds to administer these programs.
Hockey 4 Kids, also a non-profit organization, was established in 1997 by Barracudas majority owner David Waronker. The organization allows less privileged or disadvantaged kids to experience the thrills of hockey.
The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Tickets will cost $6 for general admission. For questions or ticket information call the Barracudas office at (904) 367-1423.
