Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

Today, the Jacksonville Barracudas Hockey Club announce that they have re-signed defenseman Greg Lecolst for the 2005-06 Southern Professional Hockey League season.

"Greg is a valuable guy because of the leadership he brings on and off the ice," Barracudas Coach and General Manager Ron Duguay said. "Last season we were short on defensemen, and especially defensive defensemen. We were amazed at the defensive skills that Greg brought to the team. He plays with a lot of passion and works hard every game."

Lecolst is looking forward to the chance to lead the Barracudas for another season. "I'm coming back to Jacksonville because I feel that the Barracudas organization as a whole wants to win. The organization and office staff are in great shape, and are all focused in bringing home a championship." he said. "The fans of the Barracudas are amazing, standing by our side through thick and thin."

Lecolst, 26, played in 50 regular season games in 2004-2005 for the Barracudas and appeared in all 4 of the Barracudas' playoff contests. In the regular season, the Middleton, MA native scored 16 goals and 33 points to go along with 69 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, Lecolst added 3 assists and 21 penalty minutes. It was Lecolst's third season with the Barracudas, having played 6 games with the team in 2002-03, and 7 games in 2003-04. Halfway through the season Lecolst was named one of the team's assistant captains, and held the role throughout the rest of the campaign.

Lecolst has totaled 39 goals and 80 points in 86 career professional games with the Barracudas and the now defunct Miami Manatees. The Barracudas season will begin with a home game on October 22nd. That night will be also be the team's Military Night, with special discounts and promotions for members of the military. Season tickets, group packages, and 10-game ticket packs are now available through the Barracudas office at 904-367-1423.
