Jacksonville Barracudas News Release

The Auction

The Jacksonville Barracudas have announced that they are teaming up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to make your wish come true with a player and Ice Girl auction! The Dec. 17 game vs. the Florida Seals will be Make-A-Wish night, where you can bid for the chance to spend an hour with your favorite player or Ice Girl. There will also be signed merchandise available for bidding at the auction. All proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and their "Stories of Light" campaign, and help the Barracudas goal of raising $5000 to become a WishMaker and make a child's wish come true. Winning bidders will be announced that night, and they must be present to win. Before the Dec. 17th game, you can also make a donation at the merchandise stand to do your part and help the Barracudas make a child's wish come true.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is currently celebrating their 25th anniversary, when they granted a Phoenix, Arizona boy's wish "to be... a policeman". The North Florida chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation currently have 71 wishes pending. The four types of wishes a child can choose from are to be...to go...to have...to meet.

The Stories of Light Campaign

Stories of Light is a campaign of inspiration and awareness, and from Nov. 28 - Dec. 23, a Wish Kid's story will be told on 102.9 The Point radio show with Tanner. This campaign was started with the hopes that hearing the stories will have a dramatic impact on all who hear them. Organizations, corporations, and individuals will be asked to adopt a wish by funding all or part of the $5000 average cost of making a child's wish come true. These children rarely experience anything beyond doctor's visits, hospital rooms, and medical treatment, so helping to make a Wish Kid's wish be granted can truly brighten their lives. In return, by funding a wish, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you changed an ill child's life, and will be featured during the "wish story of the day". Wachovia Bank also helped to make this campaign a reality, partnering with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and accepting donations during the campaign. All donations stay local, and benefit North Florida's Make-A-Wish kids. The Barracudas goal is to raise $5000 with the help and generosity of our fans so that together, we can make one of the 71 North Florida Wish Kid's wishes come true.

Make sure you don't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity to help out an excellent charity and spend some quality time with your favorite player or Ice Girl, all at the same time! And before the 17th game vs. the Florida Seals, show your support for the Make-A-Wish Foundation by stopping by the merchandise stand to make a donation - remember, even a dollar helps.
