November14th,2005 (Parma, OH)- The Cleveland Barons returned home to friendly confines of the Lakefront Lines Arena to complete a weekend sweep of the their rivals, the Mahoning Valley Phantoms. The Barons have been on the road for the last 10 games in which they posted a 3-6-1 record. The Barons remain in second place in the North Division with a 11-11-4 , 26pts.
WEEKEND REVIEW
Saturday, November 12th-The Phantoms jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Marc Menzione. The Barons would score the next seven goals to give the a 7-1 victory. The Barons were lead by the line of Josh Leonard (Allen Park, MI) who a five point night(1G-4A), Carter Camper (Rocky River, OH) with 4 assists and Tomas Petruska (Presov, Slovakia) with a hat trick. The Barons also received goals by Grant Tonne ( Garland ,TX), his first in the NAHL, Joe Greener ( Basingstoke, England) his 2nd goal of the year and defenseman Pat Goebel (Parma, OH) with his 6th goal of the year. John Kennedy ( Saginaw, MI), Eric Rex ( Fairview, PA), Adam Snead (Sylvania, OH) and Aaron Pietila (Brighton, MI) had an assist in the contest. Barons goaltender Bobby Jarosz ( Crystal Lake, IL) earned his 3rd win of the year with a stellar 33 save performance.
Sunday, November 13th- The Barons and Phantoms returned for a matinee match in Parma, OH. The Barons would jump out to a 1-0 lead with Carter Camper scoring his 14th goal and league leading 39th point. Josh Leonard and Tomas Petruska would pick up the assists for the Barons. Cleveland would increase their lead in the second period when forward Nick Kosinski (Marquette, MI) scored his 6th goal on the power play, with John Kennedy and Ricky Akkerman (Mora, MN) getting the assists. Barons forward Aaron Pietila would close out the scoring with his 4th goal of year, with Adam Snead and Ryan Ward (Saline, MI) with the assists. Barons goalie Bobby Jarosz would earn his 4th victory of the season with a 28 save shutout.
NOTABLES
The Barons have the top two scoring leaders in the North American Hockey League; Carter Camper leads the NAHL with 39points (14G-25A) and assists with 25. Josh Leonard is second in points with 28pts (13G-15A). Defenseman Pat Goebel leads all NAHL defensemen in goals scored with six and is fourth in points 12 (6G-6A). Barons goalie Bobby Jarosz recorded the barons first shutout in over three years.
NEW BARONS IN C-TOWN
The Barons would like to welcome some new additions the squad. The Barons acquired Tomas Petruska from the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL. Also defenseman Adam Snead arrives from the Alpena IceDiggers in a trade and Defenseman Ricky Akkerman comes to Cleveland from the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL.
