Barons Name Interim Coach

The Cape Cod Barons regretfully announce that Coach Greg McCauley has resigned due to personal reasons. The Barons would like to thank Greg for his hard work and dedication to the Barons and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. - The Cape Cod Barons are extremely proud to bring onboard Dan Hodge as their interimHead Coach and the experience he brings is paramount to the immediate and long term success of the Cape Cod Barons. Mike Nugnes will be the Associate Head Coach for the Barons.

Dan Hodge is a veteran of over 650 professional games; he was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in 1990. Dan has played games in the AHL, IHL, ECHL and CHL. Dan was a member of the 2000 Kelly Cup Championship team in Peoria of the ECHL. Dan's father, Ken is a two time Stanley Cup champion as a member of the Boston Bruins (1970 and 1972). His brother, Ken Jr., also played for the Boston Bruins and won the 7th Player Award on his way to being named to the NHL's All-Rookie team in 1991. Brendon, Dan's younger brother, also plays pro hockey for the Rapid City Rush of the Central Hockey League.

Dan's playing career ended in 2006 when he became the assistant coach for the Tulsa Oilers in the CHL, he assumed the role as Head Coach in December of 2008. Dan is a product of hockey tradition and is excited for the task ahead of coaching the Barons. Dan is also the Head Coach of the Cape Cod Cubs and makes his home in Osterville with his fiancée Kathleen.

Michael Nugnes is a Cape Cod native and thoroughly involved in the rich Cape Cod hockey community.

Mike played locally for Barnstable High School and collegiately at Curry College and UMass Boston. Mike has spent the past seventeen years coaching hockey and lacrosse. Mike has led both Sandwich and Barnstable to league Championships and currently coaching with the Cape Cod Cubs. His involvement in the local hockey community and successful track record makes him a valuable asset to the growth of the Barons' franchise.

Mike currently resides in West Barnstable with his wife Jennifer and their son Nikolas.
