(Parma, OH)- The Cleveland Barons of the North American Hockey League announce announce the hiring of John Fritsche as Head Coach/ General Manager of the squad.
Fritsche, a Parma, OH native, arrives from Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss Professional Hockey League, where he was the Associate Head Coach of their Division 1 professional team and Head Coach of the of their Jr. A squad since 2003. Prior to that, Fritsche had a 21 year playing career, while mostly playing with Ambri-Piotta, Fritsche has also had a stint with the Winnipeg Jets in 1992 before returning to Switzerland. Fritsche, has represented the United States in some of the sports most prestigious tournaments: The Spengler Cup 1988, 1989 and the World Hockey Championships in 1990.
Current Barons Assistant Coach Josh Harrold will now be elevated to the Associate Coach . Assistant General Manager Rob Gagne will remain on staff..
The Barons will open their training camp on Saturday, August 27th , 11:00 AM at Lakefront Lines Arena.
