ANCHORAGE, ALASKA - 45 year old Aces rookie goaltender Jeff Barney made 21 saves, but Colorado scored 4 second period goals on their way to a 5-3 win over Alaska Saturday in front of a sell-out crowd at the Sullivan Arena.

Barney, a 25 year emergency backup goaltender, got his first career start and did well over his 58 minute 26 second stint between the pipes. He was especially good in the first period when he made 14 saves.

The Aces took a 1-0 first period lead when Justin Breton scored his team-leading 23rd goal of the season, assisted by Kenny Babinski and Garet Hunt.

Colorado scored twice early in the second. Colin Bowman and Kyle Ostrow zipped shots past Barney before Peter Sivak tied the game for Alaska with his 22nd goal of the season.

Later in the second, Bowman tallied again to make it 3-2, then Teigen Zahn scored on a deflection and it was 4-2 Eagles after two.

In the third, Marc-Andre Levesque blasted home his 3rd goal of the season from Sivak and Perfetto to make it 4-3 before Jesse Mychan popped in an empty net goal for the final 5-3 score.

Alaska outshot Colorado 28-25 for the game.

The loss brings the Aces season to a close with a 27-38-4-3 record, fifth place in the ECHL's West Division.
