Chicago Wolves News Release
Glenview, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves announced Thursday that center Ivan Barbashev has been recalled from loan by the St. Louis Blues (NHL). The 21-year-old could make his NHL debut tonight against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
This season with the Wolves, Barbashev has registered 19 goals and 18 assists for 37 points through 44 games. His point and goal totals rank second among Wolves skaters and he ranks eighth on the American Hockey League scoring list.
His 25.3 shooting percentage leads Chicago players, and he is one of two Wolves players with four game-winning goals this season.
Barbashev made his professional debut with Chicago on Oct. 15, 2015, against the Milwaukee Admirals and posted an assist in the contest.
Prior to turning pro, the Moscow native skated for three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Moncton Wildcats. He was selected in the second round, 33rd overall, by St. Louis in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Barbashev will be unavailable when the Wolves travel to Cleveland for a pair of games against the Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena. Puck drop for the squad's Thursday contest is set for 6 p.m. and will be streamed on AHLLive.com. Saturday's game also begins at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on CW50.
Following the AHL All-Star break, Chicago returns home to Allstate Arena for a set of games against Central Division foes. On Friday, Feb. 3, the division-leading Grand Rapids Griffins are in town for a 7 p.m. showdown that will be broadcast on The U Too.
