Bangor Signs DeMaino for 2004

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks have signed outfielder L.J. DeMaino for the 2004 season. DeMaino last played for the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.

DeMaino a 5' 11" 170lbs. bats left and throws right and will be a great addition to the Lumberjacks already speedy line up. DeMaino had 37 bunt singles in 44 games last season at UMass. DeMaino finished the year with a .282 batting average and went 22 out of 24 in stolen base attempts.

L.J. has spent time with a few college teams including Miami Dade Community College where he batted .354 and holds the single season record for triples in a season. From Miami Dade, DeMaino went to Clemson University where he batted .291 and led the team in triples with 5. DeMaino also attempted 16 stolen bases and was safe on 14 of them. At Clemson University he started 30 games for them while they were the number one team in the Nation. DeMaino got a chance to appear in the College World Series where he batted .500.

"DeMaino has a great short swing and has great mechanics, he has speed that is above average and a great work ethic to go along with it. He is a guy that is not only a great addition to the team, but also a guy that is very happy to be part of the Lumberjacks organization as well," states Manager Kash Beauchamp
