Happy New Year From the Bangor Lumberjacks
The Lumberjacks staff would like to take this time to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year. Thank you for your tremendous support in 2003. 2004 will be an exciting year for the Lumberjacks as they get set to open the new John Winkin Baseball Complex, the Lumberjacks new home in the City of Bangor! We hope to see you all there this summer!
Lumberjacks Acquire Closer Montero The Lumberjacks have acquired RHP Oscar Montero from the Joliet (IL) Jackhammers of the Northern League in exchange for OF Barry Paulk. Last season, Montero was 2-4 with a 3.36 ERA and nine saves in 45 appearances, which ranked second in the NL. Montero finished 8th in the voting for Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year with 23 points.
Robert Marquis Winner of Pool Table
Robert Marquis of Old Town is the winner of the pool table being given away by Bangor Home and Recreation and the Bangor Lumberjacks. Robert was selected at random from an entry pool of thousands as the winner of the $1,800 pool table. Congratulations Robert!
John Winkin/Husson Baseball Hot Stove Dinner
The Lumberjacks and Husson College present the John Winkin/Husson Baseball Hot Stove Dinner on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Husson. Tickets are $20 for anyone who would like to attend. Keynote speakers will include former Major Leaguer Mike Bordick, a Winterport native, and the Lumberjacks manager, Kash Beauchamp. There will be a silent auction of great sports memorabilia to benefit the Husson College Baseball Team's spring trip. Updates on how to obtain tickets will be posted on the Lumberjack website at www.bangorlumberjacks.com. Corporate sponsorship tables are also being offered. Lumberjacks to be at WZON's "An Evening With Joe and Jerry"
The Lumberjacks and Jack Timber will be at WZON's "An Evening with Joe and Jerry" Tuesday, January 13 at 7 PM at the Bangor Civic Center. Joe Castiglione and Jerry Trupiano have been broadcasting Boston Red Sox games on the radio together for 11 years. For one night only, they will be in Bangor. Admission to the event is free, but you must have a ticket. Listen to WZON for details on how you can get your ticket.
