Bangor Lumberjacks News Release
Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks have completed their final round of cuts, finalizing the roster for the 2004 Northeast League season. The roster features 24 players, 13 of which are pitchers with 11 position players.
The first player released was RHP Greg Dukeman. Dukeman was signed on April 2 and was a draft pick of the Atlanta Braves in 1997. Last season Dukeman played for the Bakersfield (CA) Blaze, the class-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. In Bakersfield he went 3-4 in 28 games being primarily used out of the bullpen.
Also let go was LHP Andy Davidson. Andy split the 2003 season between Coastal Bend of the Central League and Rockford of the Frontier League. The Cardinals drafted Davidson in 2002. Last year, Andy was 2-4 with a 4.33 ERA in 45.1 innings between the Aviators and the RiverHawks.
The only position player released in the final round of cuts was rookie catcher Casey Clary. Clary was drafted by the Lumberjacks with the 3rd overall pick in the 2004 Northeast League tryout camp this spring, but competition at the catcher's spot was tough with veterans Brad Hargreaves and Ryan Sienko.
Season Tickets and Pack Tickets are on sale now at the Jacks store in the Bangor Mall. The Lumberjacks begin the 2004 season in four days in New Jersey, and open at home on Thursday, June 3 at the new John Winkin Baseball Complex on the campus of Husson College in Bangor.
