Buffalo Bandits News Release
Buffalo, N.Y. (January 28, 2004) --Buffalo Bandits General Manager Kurt Silcott announced today that the team has signed free agent Jamie Hackel to a one-year contract. As is club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Signing Jamie brings a lot of toughness and grit to this team," stated Silcott. "Jamie is living out in Vancouver right now so we'll bring him east from time to time for certain games. We plan on him relocating to the area later in the season to help us down the stretch run."
Hackel has appeared in 21 career games for the Bandits registering 4 points (2G, 2A) and 62 penalty minutes.
The Bandits made another roster move, elevating backup goaltender Corey Quinn from the practice squad. Buffalo currently leads the National Lacrosse League in saves (43.5 per game) but is ranked 10th in goals against average (13.55 per game).
"Corey has been a valuable member of our team on our practice squad and we felt it was time for us to reward that effort," said Silcott. " We expect all of our goalies to continue to compete and their efforts will only make our team better."
Quinn's last start for the Bandits came in a 13-16 Champions Cup semifinal loss to the Rochester Knighthawks on April 26, 2003. He made 40 saves in the losing effort.
Last season, Quinn recorded 77 saves and a 12.36 GAA in 15 regular season games. After a concussion sidelined goaltender Steve Dietrich for the entirety of the playoffs, Quinn stepped into the starting role, registering 83 saves and a 12.19 GAA.
The Bandits' next home game is on Friday, February 6, at 7:30 PM vs. the Rochester Knighthawks. Ticket packages are available by calling the Buffalo Bandits Ticket Office at 1-888-467-2273, or fans can purchase packages at the HSBC Arena Box Office or any Tickets.com locations.
