Chicago Bandits News Release
AKRON, OH - After what has proven to be a high scoring series, neither the Chicago Bandits nor the Akron Racers managed to score in the first inning for the first time this series.
Amber Patton got the first hit of the game in the top of the second, but was stranded on base as the next three batters were put out.
Nicole Trimboli opened up the hitting for the Racers in the bottom of the second as she hit a double to left field, but Akron would be unable to capitalize.
In the third inning, Brittany Cervantes got the Bandits on the board first as she crushed a solo home run well past the left field wall to take a 1-0 lead.
Sam Marder hit a single to try and get Akron on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Nicole Pauly followed with a single of her own allowing Jessica Garcia, pinch running for Marder, to advance to second. The Racers were once again unable to convert, as Vicky Galindo made a nice grab to throw out Taylor Schlopy to end the inning while preserving the Bandits' lead.
In the top of the sixth, Kristen Butler was hit by a pitch from Erin Arevalo and Rhea Taylor was brought in to pinch run. Amber Patton then hit a double to score Taylor before moving to third on an error to make the score 2-0.
Tammy Williams was up next for the Bandits and hit a triple to score Patton, giving the Bandits a 3-0 edge over the Racers. Amanda Williams then put the Bandits in full control as she hit a two run shot over the right field wall for a 5-0 lead.
Alisa Goler gave the Bandits some insurance runs in the seventh as she hit a three run home run after Vicky Galindo and Megan Wiggins both got on base.
The Bandits would hold onto the 8-0 lead in the bottom of the seventh as the Racers went three up, three down and finished off the four game sweep of the Racers.
The Bandits will be back in action on Wednesday as they return home to take on the Carolina Diamonds in the final series of the 2012 regular season. To order tickets, visit www.chicagobandits.com [2] or call the box office at 877-722-6348.
