Bandits Looking for that Diamond in the Rough

San Angelo - As the Bandits continue to fill their 35 man league maximum Training Camp roster, the Bandits will conduct their only open tryout scheduled this Saturday December 19, 2015 at the San Angelo Stadium 1919 Knickerbocker San Angelo, Texas 76904. The Bandits have been actively recruiting and signing a number of talented athletes who are expected to make an immediate impact season for the Bandits. However that hasn't stopped Head Coach Meadow Lemon's search for that diamond in the rough. "There are a number of great athletes out there who for whatever reason just haven't had the right opportunity. I've seen so many outstanding players that have been overlooked or have simply fallen through the cracks. Some players received bad career advice, some might not have had the right representation, others didn't get invited to a combine, or they might have been injured or recovering from an injury and didn't test well. There are so many reasons why there are some great athletes walking around unsigned. So I think its import to give that player who says, I could have... I should have, or I wish I would have... the opportunity to remove those frustrations and offer them the opportunity to give it their best shot. In doing so we just might find that diamond in the rough"...said Head Coach Meadow Lemon.
The one day tryout is open to participants over the age of 18; who no longer have any NCAA or NAIA eligibility, and are not currently under contract with any other professional football team. Kickers will be evaluated at this event.
Several of the Bandits signed players are expected to be on hand, including WR Desmond Marrs, Stephen Alfred (WR / East Texas Baptist University), Darrell Raven -Charlo (6'3" 200 lbs CB), Austin Benson (6'2" 225 LB/S ), Kyle Patterson (6'2" 305 lbs / DL) and Zack Fondal (6'5" 300/ OL ), Offensive Coordinator Mike Bonner along with Head Coach Meadow Lemon.
Registration will begin at 9:00AM, with testing and drills beginning at 10AM.
Participants will be tested in the 40 yard dash, (linemen 20 yards), L-Drill, bench press (hard surface) and position specific and one on one drills will be held on the field turf.
Participants must bring their own shoes (sneakers for hard surface) molded cleats for position specific drills. Metal cleats are not permitted. This is a non-contact tryout.
