Bandits Acquire Thorimbert and Self from Minnesota

BUFFALO, N.Y. (August 23, 2010) - Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler today announced the team has acquired transition player Jay Thorimbert and defenseman Scott Self from Minnesota in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2011 Entry Draft and a first-round pick in the 2012 Entry Draft.

Thorimbert (7/6/1986, 6'0", 205 lbs.) is a loose ball and faceoff specialist who just finished his second year in the NLL. Last season with Minnesota, the 24-year-old was third in the league with 180 faceoff wins (in 409 attempts), and fourth overall with a career-high 152 loose balls. Originally drafted by the Bandits in 2006, Thorimbert also chipped in 14 points (8+6) in 15 games last season, giving 26 points (13+13) in 30 career games.

Self (7/7/1979, 6'2", 205 lbs.) is a rugged, 10-year veteran defender who was originally drafted by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 1999 Entry Draft. He suited up for one game with the Bandits in 2001, but has since played in New York, Ottawa, Arizona, Chicago, Edmonton and Minnesota. Last season with the Swarm he collected 12 points (1+11) and 76 loose balls in 16 games. For his career, Self has 133 points (31+102) in 141 games.
