Baltimore Mariners Harness Stampede 50-17

BALTIMORE, MD (May 2, 2010) - The Baltimore Mariners (8-0) continued their undefeated streak by harnessing the Harrisburg Stampede 50-17. Leading the way for the Mariners was quarterback E.J. Nemeth who ran for three scores and also tossed three touchdown passes. Defensive back Desmond Maul sparked the Baltimore defense with three interceptions.

On the night Nemeth was 13 of 22 passing for 245 yards with one interception and three scoring strikes, including two to Scorpio Brown. Jamaal Stokes also hauled in a Nemeth pass for a score. Running back Isaiah Grier led the Mariners with 44 yards rushing on 15 carries and crossed the goal line for a score.

The Mariners now hold a 2 ½ game lead over Harrisburg (5-2) with six games remaining on the 2010 regular season schedule. Baltimore also holds a four game lead over the third place Reading Express (4-4). The top three teams in the Eastern Conference qualify for the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) playoffs.

Baltimore now has a bye next week before playing May 13th at the Fayetteville Guard (2-4); a team they have already defeated 58-0 and 91-19 this season. Following a game against the Richmond Raiders on May 29th the Mariners return home game for a game June 5th against the Erie Storm at 7:00 PM at 1st Mariner Arena.
