NEW YORK, Jan. 4, 2011 - Trey Johnson of the Bakersfield Jam has been named NBA Development League Player of the Month for games played in December. The honor, the first of the 2010-11 season, is also the first of Johnson's career.

Johnson, a 6-5, 215-pound guard out of Jackson State who earned two GATORADE Call-Ups to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009, led Bakersfield to an 8-2 record on the month, averaging 27.6 points, 4.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds. Johnson scored more than 20 points in nine of the Jam's 10 games in December, and his 43-point performance in a win over Austin on Dec. 15, a game in which he also had 11 rebounds, is the league's highest single-game individual point total this season. In addition to shooting 98-of-198 (.495) from the field, Johnson also shot 87.8 percent (72-of-82) from the free-throw line.
