BAKERSFIELD - The Bakersfield Blitz will host the Amarillo Dusters of the National Midwest Division at Rabobank Arena on Saturday, June 3. Kick off is set for 7:00 p.m. This will be the first meeting between the Blitz and the Dusters since the Dusters defeated the Blitz, 66-55, on June 18, 2005.
The Blitz are coming off loses over the past two weeks that have set them back to second place in the National West Division. Now with an overall record of 5-3, a win against the Dusters will keep the Blitz at their second place spot.
The Dusters had a loss last week, a 34-27 defeat against the Memphis Xplorers. The Dusters currently seat at fourth place in the National Midwest Division with an overall record of 4-4.
To show support for the community's youth sports, the Blitz are having "Youth Sports Night" at the Blitz game against the Dusters. When fans arrive at the game wearing a youth sports jersey they will receive 50% off any ticket for the Blitz game.
The Blitz have redefined the Bakersfield arena football tradition with a four week win streak in the first half of the af2 season. In weeks 8 and 9, the Blitz experienced an unfamiliar feeling of defeat. However, the Blitz are back at home and more confident with five new faces on the field, including University of Colorado star, QB Bobby Pesavento and former Everett Hawk player, OL/DL Chuck Jones. While in college, Pesavento led the Buffaloes through a five game win streak and as Big 12 Title champions in the Fiesta Bowl in 2001. At Portland State, Jones was voted the Most Valuable Defensive player. Now in his first af2 year, Jones totaled 6 tackles and 1 sack while playing for the Everett Hawks. This will be Jones' first game with the Blitz.
