June 2, 2006 - arenafootball2 (af2)
Louisville Fire News Release

The Louisville Fire (4-4) opened the 2006 season with a loss a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (6-2), but now the Fire has revenge on their minds. The Fire is coming off their first road win of the season, a 62-56 victory at Tennessee Valley, and is looking for their third straight win in Freedom Hall.

The match-up to watch will be the Wilkes-Barre defense against the Fire's offense. Defensively Wilkes-Barre is giving up just 39.4 points a game, third in af2, while the Fire offense is average 51.6 points a game. The Fire has scored at least 50 points in the last four games and five of the last six.

Fire offensive specialist Rob Mager has been on a tear lately scoring 10 touchdowns in the last two games. Mager became the first receiver in af2 to reach the 1000 yard mark this season. Mager currently leads the league in receptions a game (10.25), receiving yards (1014), receiving yards per game (126.8) and receptions (82), he second in touchdowns with 25. Mager and the rest of the Fire offense will be challenged by a Pioneers defense giving up just 268 yards a game.

The Pioneers are also the least penalized team in the league, averaging just 44 yards a game in penalties.

The difference in the game however could be special teams as the Fire has two players in the top 10 in af2 in kick return yards. Lance Taylor is fifth in kick return average (22.7) and Nate Green is ninth (20.3). Both Taylor and Green are threats to take a kick-off the distance with four total returns for touchdowns between them.

Tickets for Saturday's game start at just $5 and can be purchase by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. The Zooperstars will be making an appearance and the first 1,000 fans will receive thunderstixs courtesy of ADT.
