Bakersfield Blitz News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CA "" Do you want to pick off a pass like DS ALEX WALLACE? Would you rather chase down the opposing quarterback like OL/DL JERRY TURNER instead? In the newest game from Electronic Arts, Inc. (EA), Arena Football: Road to Glory, you can do both of those and much more!
For the first time, the new game allows users to take control of over 80 AFL and af2 teams including your BAKERSFIELD BLITZ! Road to Glory lets fans put on the headset like Head Coach GARY COMPTON to call the best plays and lead the Blitz through the season and then to an ArenaCup championship. Do well in af2, and you can export your favorite players straight to the AFL for a new challenge.
Arena Football: Road to Glory is rated "E10+" (Everyone 10 and older) by the ESRB and has an MSRP of $29.99 for the PlayStationî2 entertainment system. The game shipped to retail stores on February 20, 2007 and will be available tomorrow, February 22nd.
The Bakersfield Blitz are coming off of the best season in franchise history in 2006! Finishing up with a record of 9-7, the Blitz lead the league in 2006 in total defense by allowing only 87 touchdowns and just over 220 yards per game! The defense also finished 2nd in the league with 26 interceptions (Wallace, 11). To top it all off, the Blitz won the first playoff game in team history in 2006 over the Central Valley Coyotes, 45-37.
Two Blitz players achieved well-deserved personal recognition as well. DS Alex Wallace (San Jose State '04) was named 2006 ADT Defensive Player of the Year and OL/DL Jerry Turner (Tennessee Tech '02) was selected as the 2006 US Army Lineman of the Year.
Head coach Gary Compton, a 13-year veteran of the AFL and the 2001 "Built Ford Tough" Man of the Year, returns to lead your two-time Western Conference Champions who are entering their 6th season in af2 in 2007.
The Blitz will make their season debut on Thursday, March 28 at the Laredo (TX) Lobos and will have their season opener on Saturday, April 21 at 7:00 p.m. against the Stockton Lightning at the Rabobank Arena. Season tickets are available now by calling (661) 377-2548.
