Montreal Juniors News Release

Montreal. Friday, November 14, 2008. Deciding to give Montreal Juniors number 1 goalie Jake Allen the night off proved to be a stroke of genius for Head Coach Pascal Vincent. Backup netminder Jean-François Bérubé stopped all 30 shots he faced on Friday night and led the Juniors back into the winning column with a 1-0 shutout over the P.E.I. Rockets.

The Juniors broke the tie game 2:30 into the 3rd period when defenseman Pat O'Keefe scored an unassisted goal, his second of the season, on the power play. O'Keefe's lone goal would prove to be Rocket goaltender Bobby Nadeau's only gaffe on the night. Nadeau stopped 39 out of 40 shots, but his team-mates just could not help him out. Montreal's win, their 12th of the season, puts them 1 point out of first place in their division and 1 point ahead of the Rockets in the playoff race.

Both of the Juniors last 2 wins have come by 1-0 shutouts with Jean-François Bérubé and Jake Allen earning one apiece. The Juniors win over P.E.I. marks the first of 3 games in 3 days as Montreal visits Gatineau tomorrow afternoon before returning home Sunday to play the Mocton Wildcats.
