Aztex, Scorpions Square off in Preseason Finale

AUSTIN, Texas (Monday, February 9, 2015) - The Austin Aztex have announced their eighth and final 2015 preseason matchup. The slate that already includes contests against top Major League Soccer squads will be capped off with the first ever matchup against the San Antonio Scorpions.
"We have worked to put together a preseason schedule composed of high quality clubs that will have our team prepared to begin the season in top form," Aztex Head Coach Paul Dalglish said. "We are also looking forward to the beginning of this rivalry between two fan bases that have really supported their clubs."
This matchup will be known as the Hill Country Derby, and will be played at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Kick off time will be 7:30 p.m. CT.
Ticket prices for the game are on sale and can be purchased online. Aztex fans can enter the code word "AZTEX" to purchase tickets for the Hill Country Cup at a special group rate.
This game represents more than just a preseason matchup. It represents a rivalry between two very successful teams that play within 70 miles of each other, and are supported by very loyal followers. The match also opportunity for both teams to showcase the level of soccer and style of play in the region, and most importantly, a long-awaited meeting for the fans. The San Antonio Scorpions are reigning North American Soccer League (NASL) champions.
The matchup will be played exactly two weeks prior to the Aztex hosting their season opener at House Park on March 28th, 2015 against the Colorado Springs Switchbacks.
The Aztex will make their professional debut in strong fashion when they set up, challenging preparation games towards their inaugural 2015 USL PRO season. In summary, the Aztex will host in the ATX PRO Challenge against three MLS teams, make a road trip to face the Houston Dynamo, play the top collegiate squads in the region, and finally wrap it all up with the Hill Country Derby.
