Austin Aztex News Release

AUSTIN, Texas (Thursday, May 28, 2015) - The Austin Aztex (4-5-1) will travel north and return to USL play with a matchup versus Oklahoma City Energy FC (3-2-3) on Sunday, May 31st. After dropping their last two USL matches, the Aztex are currently 6th in the Western Conference Standings, and are looking to bounce back against an OKC team hot on their trail at 7th place.

In their previous meeting on May 1st at House Park, the match ended in a hard fought 2-2 tie, with the Aztex coming back from an early deficit but unable to hold on to a lead as OKC equalized late in the match. Forward Drew Yates scored both goals for the Aztex. The two teams will play once more, in Oklahoma City, on August 29th.

The team will be riding the momentum coming off a big 2-0 win over the San Antonio Scorpions in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Cup on Wednesday. The victory sends the Aztex on to face the Houston Dynamo on June 17th.

Guaraci, who received his fifth yellow card of the USL campaign in last week's loss to Tulsa Roughnecks FC, will miss this match due to an accumulation suspension. The Aztex will look to the forward duo of Kris Tyrpak and Trevin Caesar to create chances on Sunday. Tyrpak leads the team with five goals on the USL season. Caesar, who scored the game-clinching goal in the third round U.S. Open Cup victory, is second in goals scored with three. Caesar's aggressive attacking style has quickly earned the attention of Aztex fans.

Goalkeeper Devin Perales, who has battled with Cody Laurendi for the starting job, has reestablished himself between the posts with 2 shutouts in 3 games of all competitions, and carries an average of just one goal per game allowed in USL matches. Bolstering the back line will be Lance Rozeboom, who transitioned to defense during the season, and Travis Golden, whose play in the absence of Kalen Ryden in the U.S. Open Cup could have earned him a closer look in the USL lineup. Left back Mikey Ambrose, who has started 8 USL games this season, netted his first professional goal Wednesday.

In the absence of Guaraci, the midfield may run through Mozzi Gyorio as well as Fernando Timbo, who have emerged as playmakers in the midfield in recent games.

The Energy are coming off of a spirited 2-1 victory against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, May 23 followed by a 1-0 victory over the Tulsa Roughnecks in Open Cup play. The match versus the Aztex will be the second game of a five-game home stand for Energy FC.

The aggressive Danni Konig leads the OKC attack. Konig scored a goal in OKC's previous meeting with the Aztex, and his 12 points on five goals and two goals lead the team.
