Kitchener Rangers News Release

Kitchener, ON - The Kitchener Rangers announced today that Avry Anstis (pronounced ehv-rie ans-tiss), the Rangers' 11th-round pick in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, has committed to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement with the club.

With Anstis's commitment to Kitchener, the Rangers have now signed four of their picks from the most recent 2024 OHL Priority Selection and one free agent: Evan Headrick (15th overall), Alexander Bilecki (second round), Weston Cameron (third round), Matthew Hlacar (free agent) and now Avry Anstis (11th round).

"Avry is a player we followed closely all year and improved his game every time we watched him," said General Manager Mike McKenzie. "He is a smooth skater and skilled player that creates offense. Welcome to the Rangers Avry."

The Pittsburgh, PA native moved away to prep school to play his U14 and U15 seasons at Shattuck St. Mary's Prep School in Minnesota. Standing at 5-foot-11 and 150-pounds Anstis plays on the right wing. During his draft year, Anstis showcased his scoring prowess by notching an impressive 28 goals and 55 points in 57 games, highlighting his ability to find the back of the net.

"To be drafted by the Kitchener Rangers has been an honor and a thrill," said Anstis. "I am humbled with the opportunity to continue my hockey development with a group so rich in tradition and excellence."

Anstis attended the Rangers 2024 Development Camp last month and stood out with his powerful skating and skill to further solidify his spot in the Rangers organization.
