Aviators win 4-3 at El Paso

EL PASO, Texas – The Coastal Bend Aviators defeated the El Paso Diablos 4-3 in game three of a four-game series Saturday night at Cohen Stadium.

El Paso scored in the bottom of the first inning on a Carlos Figueroa throwing error making the score 1-0.

The Aviators took the lead with three runs in the third inning. After Kevin Henry and Angel Rohena hit back-to-back singles, Chris Judkins hit a double scoring Henry. Edwin Maldonado then hit a two-run triple making the score 3-1.

Mike Guerrero hit a solo homerun in the eighth inning, his second of the season making the score 4-2.

El Paso added a run on a RBI double hit by Juan Camacho in the bottom of the eighth inning but it wasn’t enough as the Aviators held on for the win.

Marc Acierno (1-0) pitched seven strong innings to pick up his first career win. Shawn Morgan pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save of the season. Chris Flanagan (0-4) took the loss for El Paso.

The Aviators wrap up the series at El Paso 8:05 Central Time Monday. The Aviators return home on Tuesday to take on Pensacola in a three-game series.
