Coastal Bend Aviators News Release

ROBSTOWN, Texas - The Coastal Bend Aviators began a three game home series against the Jackson Senators Tuesday night. The Aviators took game one in the first meeting between the two clubs this year.

Selwyn Lagaigne , Vince Faison, and Josh Tranum, the Senators' 2-3-4 hitters, touched up Aviators' starter Matt Rohr for two runs in the top of the first. The trio of left-handed hitters all singled to the opposite field driving in the only runs of the night for the Senators.

Jackson's starting pitcher, Ryan Snyder, silenced Aviator bats allowing only one hit through six innings.

After a rough start in the first, Aviator's pitcher, Matt Rohr found his groove duplicating the success of his counterpart.

In the seventh inning, Aviators' DH Carlos Figueroa singled to right field in front of clean up hitter, Edwin Maldonado. Maldonado took 1-1 fastball deep to left center for his third homerun of the season, thus tying the game.

Jackson's pitcher, Javier Martinez, came in relief in the eighth inning, giving up a single to C Angel Rohena. After striking out Matt Mann, Rohena advanced to second on a wild pitch. Hansley followed with a walk, putting runners on first and second. Figueroa singled to left center, driving in Rohena with the go ahead run. Martinez was lifted for reliever Brandon Parker. Kevin Henry singled up the middle driving in Hansley as an insurance run.

Alex Dutka pitched the eighth for the Aviators picking up his second win. Shawn Morgan closed the door on the Senators in the ninth, picking up his sixth save of the season.

The Aviators will be back for action on Wednesday. Wednesday night is family night. Tickets are available through the Aviator's website, www.aviatorsbaseball.com or call (361) 387-8585. All games are broadcast on KCCT 1150 AM, and the Aviators website.
