Aviators Stage Comeback of Their Own

Jackson, MS; August 5, 2003 – The Senators dropped a tough one Tuesday night, as the Coastal Bend Aviators came from behind to win 4-3. The Aviator used the long ball to their advantage, with Cris Colon smacking his third home run of the season and Eric Battersby hitting his 10th home run of the year. Battersby's homer tied the game in the seventh inning, an inning in which the Aviators scored three runs to take the lead. Ricky Lewis (5-4), a native of Biloxi, Mississippi went seven strong innings, allowing three runs on six hits to pick up the win. Rob Elias came in and went the final two innings, only giving up one hit to nail down his third save of the year. David Fuqua (2-2) suffered the loss, after allowing four runs on nine hits in 6.2 innings. Eric Darjean stayed hot offensively going 2-3 at the plates while scoring a run. The Senators fell to 18-13 on the half and 49-30 overall, while the Aviators improved to 20-12 during 2nd half play and 37-43 on the season.

Next home game: Will take place on Wednesday, August 6, 2003, as it will be "Wet Your Whistle Wednesday," with $.50 drink specials on both draft beer and draft soft drinks. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening at 6:00 p.m.
