Edmonton Aviators News Release
Edmonton, May 21, 2004 â The Edmonton Aviators Soccer Club have purchased the rights to Montreal Impact midfielder Chris Williams.
The Scarborough Ontario native played in 22 games with the Montreal Impact in the 2003 season helping the club finish first overall in the A-League's regular season.
Prior to joining the Impact, Williams played with the University of Mobile in Alabama where he won the NAIA national title and was named to the league's first all-star team.
Williams has also played for the Canadian Olympic team and had his first cap with the Canadian World Cup team on January 18, 2003 in Fort Lauderdale against the U.S.A.
"The addition of Williams really solidifies our midfield. Chris has extensive experience at the college level, the national level, and the A-League level. We think that his experience will help add depth to our already strong midfield," said Joe Petrone, Director of Soccer Operations for the Aviators.
Williams is 6'1", 160lbs, and was born on June 1, 1981.
Williams has joined the team and will be available for the Aviators Men's next game on May 28th in Calgary (6:30pm MST).
The Aviators Men and Women play their first home games of the season at Commonwealth Stadium on May 30th (2 pm MST).
