Coastal Bend Aviators News Release

ROBSTOWN, Texas -Aviators got off to a good start in game one of three against the San Angelo Colts.

After a rough beginning as the Colts scored one run to begin the game and three more in the top of the second, the Aviators found themselves down 4-0 after an inning and a half of play. Defensive miscues and mental breakdowns contributed to the San Angelo output.

Elliott Shaw kept his composure despite the defensive let downs. In innings three through seven, Shaw only faced four hitters over the limit. Shaw surrendered eight hits, five runs, of which only three were earned.

The Aviator bats came alive with a run in the second and three in the third, to knot the game at four. After a scoreless fourth, both teams put up a run as they were tied at five going into the sixth. The game remained even until the bottom of the eighth inning.

Colt pitcher, Sam Greco sat down the first two Aviators before Jack Joffrion and Carlos Figueroa drew consecutive full count walks. That brought to the plate Kevin Henry which singled in Joffrion from second with a go ahead run. Henry led both clubs with three hits in the three for five effort.

James Lira picked up his third win, pitching the eighth and ninth inning. The Player of the Game retired the side in order in both innings with five strikeouts swiniging.
