Aviators Announce All New Radio Team for 2007
Robstown, TX - American Sports Entertainment, parent company of the Coastal Bend Aviators, and Team General Manager, Bob Flanagan announced today their new partnership with Fox Sports Radio, KOPY 1070 AM in Alice TX. for the 2007 Season. Flanagan said, "Because of our relationship with the outlying region of the Coastal Bend area we felt getting involved with KOPY Radio made for a wise business decision. We hope that this move will help enhance our image in the area as well as better serve the listening audience." Station Manager Bobby Pena said "The signing of the Aviators is a great addition to an already solid lineup. Having carried the Javelinas for years, pairing the Aviators up with fellow recent signee the Hammerheads, will give us a powerful lineup of local sports teams."
In a second announcement, former Corpus Christi native Rich Tiner has been hired to handle the nightly play by play duties. A professor in Media Broadcasting by day at Belmont University in Nashville TN., Rich will be moonlighting this summer for the Aviators all across the country. "In my long radio career, I've owned stations and sold stations, I've done on air shifts and my share of time running the business aspects and currently my duties include play by play for the Belmont University mens and womens basketball teams as well as the mens baseball team.... But I've never done professional baseball. When this opportunity arose, I knew I had to take it" said Rich. All 96 games will be broadcast this season with all but a few being carried by KOPY 1070AM. Those Aviator games that conflict with previously scheduled event will be carried by a sister station. Listen for details and schedule changes.
