Los Angeles Avengers News Release

LOS ANGELES - Even though it is the off-season, Avenger players, coaches and "A-Team" dancers regularly visit schools, hospitals and community events.

This week, head coach Ed Hodgkiss, assistant head football coach Brent Winter, director of football operations Jason McKay and "A-Team" dancers Lindsey and Tiffany spent Monday, August 21 at the STAPLES Center Suite Holder Golf Tournament in the city of Industry Hills. Hodgkiss, Winter and McKay took the opportunity to talk Avenger fans, while "A-Team" dancers signed autographs and took pictures with the golfers.

"It's great to come out here and play golf with all the fans of the different sports teams that call STAPLES Center home." Hodgkiss said. "This is a first-lass event put on for the fans of the L.A."

In each of its first two years, STAPLES Center received the prestigious Pollstar-CIC Arena of the Year award. From this auspicious beginning, it has clearly established itself as a world-class arena and the Sports and Entertainment Center of the World.

As the home of five professional sports franchises - the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers and the WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks - STAPLES Center has proven to be a home court advantage for the local teams. The Lakers capped-off each of their first three seasons at STAPLES Center by winning consecutive NBA Championships while the Sparks captured back-to-back WNBA Championships in their debut seasons at STAPLES Center. The Kings, Clippers and Avengers have all set franchise records for attendance and sellouts in each of the seven seasons they have called STAPLES Center home.

In addition to the impressive schedule of sports and entertainment events, STAPLES Center continues to distinguish itself as the host of high-profile events of national and international distinction. These include the 2000 Democratic National Convention, the 2002 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, the 2002 NHL All-Star game, four Grammy Awards shows, the innovative X Games, the WTA Tour Championships, the 2004 Pac 10 Basketball Championships and the 2004 NBA All-Star Game. Upcoming events include the return of the X Games (August 2005) and WTA Tour Championships (November 2005).
