Austin's Leo Lyons Named NBA D-League Performer of the Week

NEW YORK, Mar. 7, 2011 - Leo Lyons of the Austin Toros was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played during the week of Feb. 28.

Lyons, a 6-9, 240-pound forward out of Missouri who has played in the NBA Summer League with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, led Austin to a 2-1 record on the week, averaging 31.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.

In a two-game split with Texas last week, Lyons scored 34 points in a 138-136 loss on Wednesday, and netted 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting in Austin's 132-122 win on Thursday. On Saturday, Lyons had a game-high 29 points and eight rebounds, leading to the Toros to a 115-96 win over Sioux Falls.

This week's honorable mention selections were Bakersfield's Trey Johnson, who averaged 27.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists in three games; Dakota's Anthony Goods, who averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games; Idaho's Luke Babbitt, who, on assignment from the Portland Trail Blazers, averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games; Iowa's Curtis Stinson, who averaged 20.5 points, 6.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists in four games; Iowa's Moses Ehambe, who, with Iowa and Austin, averaged 24.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in three games; Maine's DeShawn Sims, who averaged 24.7 points and 6.3 rebounds in three games; Rio Grande Valley's Jerel McNeal, who averaged 29.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 4.5 steals in two games; Reno's Danny Green, who averaged 21.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists in three games; Texas' Joe Alexander, who averaged 27.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, and Justin Dentmon, who averaged 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, in two games; and Utah's Ryan Thompson, who averaged 19.0 points in two games.
