Austin Bold FC Adds Defender Josue Soto and Goalkeeper Juan David Ramirez

AUSTIN, Texas (FEBRUARY 5, 2019) - Austin Bold FC announced today the additions of defender JosuĂ© Soto and goalkeeper Juan David RamĂrez for the 2019 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval. Soto and RamĂrez land in Austin via loan, with Soto arriving from Liga MX club QuerĂ©taro and RamĂrez moving from AtlĂ©tico Nacional SA of Liga Ăguila in Colombia.
"Josué and Juan come to Austin from highly-respected international clubs in Querétaro and Atlético Nacional," said Austin Bold FC General Manager Roberto Silva. "The fact that these organizations have entrusted us with such talented athletes shows that we are on the right path."
Soto spent the last two-plus seasons on loan to Cimarrones de Sonora FĂștbol Club of the Ascenco MX, where he appeared in 51 matches and logging 3,529 minutes of play. In 2016, the California native played with the QuerĂ©taro U-20 side, helping the club to a U-20 championship. The 23-year-old defender played collegiately at Cal Baptist in Riverside, Calif., where he earned All-PacWest honorable mention honors following his freshman season. Born in Perris, Calif., Soto attended nearby Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, where he was a four-year starter at forward for the Wolves.
RamĂrez joined the AtlĂ©tico Nacional youth academy in 2013 and made his professional debut in 2016. The 22-year-old was a member of the 2017 Recopa Sudamericana and Torneo Apertura championship teams and on the squad that won the 2018 Copa Colombia. A native of Envigado, Colombia, RamĂrez was in goal for the AtlĂ©tico Nacional U-20 team that won the FederaciĂłn Colombiana de FĂștbol national championship.
With the additions of Soto and RamĂrez, Austin Bold FC has announced a total of 23 players (Faris Abdi, Clayton Adams, Xavier BĂĄez, Edson Braafheid, DarĂo Conca, Thomas de Villardi, Fabien Garcia, KlĂ©ber Gladiator, Sonny Guadarrama, Promise Isaac, AndrĂ© Lima, Calum Mallace, Sean McFarlane, Diego Restrepo, Marcelo Saragosa, Valeri Saramutin, Jermaine Taylor, Ryan Thompson, Jorge Troncoso, Kris Tyrpak, London Woodberry) for the 2019 inaugural season. The club will announce additional player signings in the coming weeks.
On Oct. 24, the club broke ground on Bold Stadium, a 5,036-seat soccer-specific stadium to be located adjacent to the Grand Plaza at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), the premier destination for entertainment and motorsports in the United States. The stadium is the first soccer-specific stadium built in Central Texas and has been engineered to provide an outstanding experience for both fans and players ahead of the Bold's inaugural Spring 2019 season.
Austin Bold FC is preparing for its inaugural USL Championship season in 2019. Preseason activities are underway and the regular season will kick off on March 9.
