Austin Aztex Find New Temporary Home Field; June 20th Game Benefiting Flood Relief

June 9, 2015 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Austin Aztex News Release

AUSTIN, Texas (June 9, 2015)- Following the Memorial Day flooding of Shoal Creek that resulted in major damage to House Park, the Austin Aztex have found a new home for the rest of the season. They will be playing the remainder of their 2015 season home games at Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in northwest Austin, beginning on June 20 with a USL match against Tulsa Roughnecks FC.

"We practice at this stadium, so we are very familiar with it and are excited to give the fans a great home match against Tulsa on June 20," said Austin Aztex coach, Paul Dalglish. "Our team has been devastated by the news of the flooding, and we want to do our part; so $1 of every person in attendance for this game will be donated to flood relief to help those who have been affected."

Following Tulsa, the Aztex next home game will be against the Sacramento Republic on June 27 with the remaining five games also being played at their temporary new home. The team's last home match of the regular season will be September 5 against the Seattle Sounders II. All home game start times will move to 7:30 p.m.

"Our options to remain in downtown Austin were very limited. Despite the size of Austin, there is no municipal stadium to turn to," said Rene van de Zande, CEO, Austin Aztex. "Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex is a beautiful high quality facility with good accessibility and easy parking. With upcoming home games on June 20 and June 27, we had to make a swift decision and our familiarity with the facility and the family friendly environment it offers made Reeves an obvious choice."

The games are family-friendly and offer a unique game day experience with live music from Wesley Lunsford on June 20 and Slapbak on June 27, various delicious food trucks for concessions curated by @FoodTrucksATX, activities for kids including small sided games, a jumping castle, and much more!

Ticket prices are available at $15-$25 for adults, $10-$20 for children 12 and under along with military and students, and VIP seating is $70 per ticket. All tickets are available for purchase at www.austinaztex.com or day-of on site. There is also a special ticket package to get one free ticket with the purchase of five. Parking at the stadium will be $5 and will open at 5:30 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m.

The Aztex just won their away game on June 6th to a sold out crowd of more than 12,000 against the reigning league champion Sacramento Republic FC! Kris Tyrpak scored the lone goal with Devin Perales earning another shutout, which resulted in Sacramento Republic FC's first ever home shutout loss. The Aztex are ready to bring the Austin fans a win at their next home game so grab your friends, family, and neighbors and come out to support your Austin Aztex team!
