AUSTIN, Texas (Wednesday, May 6, 2015) - The Austin Aztex were able to take control of their match versus All-Air Force, winning by a score of 4-0 in midweek action at House Park for Military Appreciation Night.
The Aztex wore special, limited edition camouflage during the match and held a silent auction for the jerseys, raising more than $3,000 toward the Aztex Soccer Foundation. Aztex Soccer Foundation, the charitable arm of Austin's professional soccer team, is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit which serves economically disadvantaged youth through educational scholarships, field development and refurbishment, and school programming.
Bryce Taylor helped the Aztex get off to a quick start with a goal in the sixth minute and Trevin Caesar followed suit, scoring two more goals in the first half. Adam Bedell, who was loaned to the Aztex from MLS affiliate Columbus Crew SC on Friday, scored his first goal for the Aztex in the 79th minute.
Aztex Head Coach Paul Dalglish took the opportunity to play two different squads per half in tonight's match, flexing his starting lineups around and looking for combinations to utilize in upcoming matches.
The All-Air Force team is assembled of soccer players who chose to forgo an opportunity to play professional soccer and instead give back to their country by joining the U.S. Air Force. In April, 40 of the best soccer players in the Air Force will came together for tryouts in San Antonio, and played Aztex and other clubs in preparation for the U.S. Armed Forces Tournament versus the best of the Marines, Army, and Navy in San Diego starting the week of May 13, 2015.
The Aztex resume USL regular season action when they face the Real Monarchs SLC on Saturday, May 9 at House Park and tickets can be purchased online at www.austinaztex.com.
