Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, Colo. (Wednesday, May 6, 2015) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are back at home this weekend and hungry for another win.
The Switchbacks FC (3-3-0) spent the past two weekends on the road. In Austin, they fell to the Aztex 1- 0. Arizona was a different story. The Switchbacks FC came out strong, playing arguably their best first half ever. Despite being down two men in the 2nd half due to red cards, the team held on for a 3-2 win!
So far this season, the Switchbacks FC have come out on top against the Real Monarchs SLC and Arizona United SC, but have dropped in heartbreaking losses to the Austin Aztex and OKC Energy FC.
This Saturday's match will be the first meeting between the Switchbacks FC and Portland Timbers FC 2 (3-3-1). Both clubs are playing in their inaugural season in the USL.
"The players are looking forward to this match with Timbers 2,"Â said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "We are coming off of a game where they showed great character in difficult conditions, playing with only nine men on the field in Arizona. We are looking to keep the momentum we have going and use our home field to our advantage."
The match is Saturday, May 9th at 7 p.m. at Sand Creek Stadium. The Switchbacks will be honoring local heroes.
