
AT&T Goal of the Year Voting Starts Tuesday on MLSSoccer.com

NEW YORK (Monday, October 24, 2011) - This year, 64 goals will be nominated for AT&T Goal of the Year - the 32 winners of the AT&T Goal of the Week, plus 32 goals chosen by a panel of MLSsoccer.com's editorial staff.
Fans, media, clubs, and players are all encouraged to vote early and often to help their favorites advance. Voting will occur HERE and via text message, in four phases:
- The First Round (voting open Oct. 25-29) will consist of the 64 nominated goals, placed in 16 groups of four. The top two in each group, as determined by an online vote, will advance to the Second Round.
- The Second Round (Oct 30-Nov 2) will consist of the 32 remaining goals, placed into eight groups of four. The top two in each group, as determined by an online vote, will advance to the Round of 16.
- The Round of 16 (Nov 3-10) will consist of the 16 remaining goals, placed in four groups of four. The top goal in each group, as determined by the combination of online voting and text voting, will advance to the Final group.
- The Final Four (Nov 11-14) will consist of the 4 remaining goals, placed in a group. The AT&T Goal of the Year winner will be determined by the combination of online voting and text voting.
Meanwhile, Simon Dawkins (SJ), Adam Moffatt (HOU), Gabriel Ochoa (SEA), Emilio Renteria (CLB) and ÃÂlvaro SaborÃÂo (RSL) are up for the last AT&T Goal of the Week of 2011. To see highlights and vote, click here. For an archive of this season's winners, go here.
Voting for MLS Save of the Year is scheduled to begin Nov. 1, with the 32 Save of the Week winners as nominees.
Chicago's Jalil Anibaba voted MLS Player of the Week by North American Soccer Reporters
Chicago Fire defender Jalil Anibaba was voted MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 32, after scoring the first two goals oh his MLS career in his team's 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew.
The rookie defender opened the scoring in the 11th minute with a header from close range. Anibaba remained upfield after a Chicago free kick was partially cleared, and Fire midfielder Pavel Pardo crossed for Anibaba, who headed past Columbus goalkeeper Will Hesmer. Anibaba scored his second goal in the 30th minute, when he made another run forward and nodded a cross over Hesmer, and inside the far post.
The University of North Carolina product played in 29 games and made 27 starts for the Fire is his first MLS season, logging the fifth-most minutes on the team. He becomes the second defender to win Player of the Week honors this season, after Seattle's Jeff Parke won in Week 10.
Anibaba joins midfielder Marco Pappa as the only Chicago Fire players to be selected as Player of the Week this season. Other players that received multiple votes this week include Houston Dynamo defender Adam Moffat, Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis, and San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Simon Dawkins.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/
