Atlanta Dream Names Maureen Brown Chief Operating Officer

ATLANTA, July 15, 2014 - The WNBA's Atlanta Dream announced today that Maureen Brown has been named the team's Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, she will oversee the Dream's Finance & Administration department and will be responsible for financial reporting, accounting, strategic analysis, human resources and IT among other direct responsibilities. Brown assumes her new role on July 21.

"We are thrilled that Maureen will be joining the Dream family in a strategic leadership capacity," said Dream President and General Manager Angela Taylor. "Maureen brings a wealth of experience in all aspects of our business and a strong strategic perspective to our organization. The knowledge and insight she has gained while working in various capacities in the NBA and WNBA league offices, with the Jaguars, and in the world of management consulting will be of tremendous value as we continue to grow our business and the Dream brand. She will be a very dynamic addition to our organization and a great leader in the Atlanta community."

Brown comes to the Dream from the Jacksonville Jaguars where she is currently the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. Prior to her time with the Jaguars, Brown had a long tenure at the WNBA and NBA League Offices in a variety of roles, including: WNBA Chief Financial Officer, NBA Financial Analyst and NBA Consultant. During her time with the WNBA League Office, she played an integral role in helping advise potential investors throughout the process of launching expansion franchises.

"The WNBA was my first introduction to the exciting business of sports, and as a result will always be special to me," said Brown. "While I was enjoying the innovative work along with the positive and collaborative environment I experienced with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, when Angela shared her vision for the Atlanta Dream with me, I became intrigued. When I had the opportunity to meet with owners Kelly Loeffler and Mary Brock, as well as with Coach Michael Cooper, their passion for and commitment to the Atlanta Dream convinced me that I could contribute to and be a part of something extraordinary."

Brown, is a graduate of Columbia University with a degree in Economics-Philosophy.

The three-time Eastern Conference Champion Atlanta Dream is in its seventh season in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Dream has qualified for the playoffs in each of the past five seasons, including conference titles in 2013, 2011 and 2010.
