Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA, NE - Omaha Storm Chasers Assistant General Manager Rob Crain was honored Friday as one of the Midlands Business Journal's "40 Under 40" for 2010 at a morning event at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.
Crain, 28, was honored for his achievements over the past year with the Storm Chasers, formerly known as the Omaha Royals. During the 2010 season, Crain helped promote and execute the final baseball game at historic Rosenblatt Stadium, boosted the club's attendance above 400,000 fans for the first time since 2000 and set franchise records in advertising and group sales for the second straight year.
Nominated by Lovgren Marketing Group for the "40 Under 40" honor, Crain helped Lovgren win a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Paper Anvil Award for the introduction of the Storm Chasers' new ballpark, now Werner Park, at a press event this summer. The Paper Anvil Award was accepted Thursday night at the annual PRSA gala.
Crain, a graduate of Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., got his start in professional baseball with the Class-A Southwest Michigan Devils Rays in 2005. He served in the Rays' front office for two seasons alongside current Storm Chasers Vice President and General Manager Martie Cordaro, before teaming up with Cordaro to lead the Omaha front office beginning in September of 2006.
In his four seasons with the Storm Chasers' franchise, Crain has worked in a variety of roles, including corporate sales executive, on-field host and director of marketing prior to assuming his present title of assistant general manager. He also joins the company of his long-time associate Cordaro, who was selected to the Midlands Business Journal's "40 Under 40" club in 2009.
Crain's influence goes beyond the Omaha area. This past Sunday at the Baseball Winter Meetings at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla., Crain was the emcee of the Business of Baseball Workshop, an all-day event designed to give guidance to roughly 500 young professionals interested in building their careers in professional baseball. His selection to that post further emphasizes his successes in the game on a national level.
