
Asheville acquires Rick Rickert

GREENVILLE, S.C., November 23 â The Asheville Altitude has acquired forward Rick Rickert from the National Basketball Development League's available player pool, according to an announcement by NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert. To make room on the 10-man roster, the Altitude waived forward Derrick Davenport.
Rickert, 6-11, 230, from the University of Minnesota ('05), was selected in the second round (55th overall) of the 2003 NBA Draft as an early entry candidate. He played for Krka of the Adriatic Basketball Association in Slovenia last season, averaging 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds.
A first-team All-Big 10 selection in 2002-03 and the Big 10 Freshman of the Year in 2001-02, Rickert was in training camp with the Minnesota Timberwolves this season after averaging 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game during the Timberwolves Summer League.
Davenport played in two games for Asheville, averaging 19.5 minutes, 9.0 points and 3.5 rebounds.
Rickert is expected to be in uniform when the Altitude travel to Fayetteville on Saturday. He will wear jersey #14.
