TONIGHT'S GAME: Roanoke (1-1) and Florida (1-0) meet for the second straight game. The Flame defeated the Dazzle, 106-102, in the first game in Florida's NBDL history on Sunday evening. Kirk Hasten leads Florida, averaging 23.0 points and 16.0 rebounds. Mike King leads Dazzle scorers at 18.0 ppg.
COOKING WITH FLAME: The Florida Flame is joining forces with the Salvation Army on Wednesday from 3-6 p.m. to prepare food for the Thanksgiving holiday. All players, coaches, and front office staff will be on hand to assist in preparing the Salvation Army Thanksgiving dinners.
OPEN TRADITION: Forward Steve Ross is continuing Fayetteville's tradition of securing quality players from local tryouts. In the first three games of the season, Ross has averaged 20.7 minutes, 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds after coming through the open tryout process in October. Guard Junie Sanders made the club from a 2002 open tryout and played 93 games over two seasons, averaging 12.6 points and 3.2 rebounds
20 ROOKIES: There were 20 first-year professional players on NBDL opening day rosters, an average of 3.3 per team. Roanoke leads the way with five rookies.
POOL IS OPEN: Beginning this week, the NBDL available player pool is open for teams to take a dip. Selection from the pool happens in reverse order of the draft, so Asheville will have first dibs, followed by Florida, Huntsville, Fayetteville, Roanoke and Columbus. Teams are allowed eight roster moves.
GOOD CALL: Eleven (11) former NBDL game officials are now calling NBA games, including five who earned a promotion following last season. The latest to earn a call-up are Mark Ayotte, Eric Lewis, Tommy Nunez, Jr., Olandis Poole and Robbie Robinson.
HOW MANY GAMES? The NBDL plays are 48-game regular season schedule spread over 20 weeks to help ensure more instructional time for players and to also help facilitate more family-friendly weekend games for fans.
FAYETTEVILLE TV: The Fayetteville Patriots are breaking new ground, becoming the first NBDL team to produce its own show for local television. Patriots PR contact Chrissie Macko will host the weekly show that airs on Time Warner Cable Channel 7 in Fayetteville Thursday nights at 10 p.m. ET.
BOUMTJE BOUMTJE OUT: Fayetteville center Ruben Boumtje Boumtje missed Monday's game at Columbus after suffering a broken finger in Saturday's game against Asheville.
TWIN: NBDL President Phil Evans, along with Director of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel Chris Alpert, are scheduled to be the first guests on "This Week in the NBDL" on NBA TV. The first show airs Dec. 2 at 9 p.m. ET.
