Orangeville A's News Release
BRAMPTON, ON.- The Brampton A's hosted the Island Storm Thursday night. After a hard fought battle in the fourth quarter, the A's fell 96-93 to the No. 2 team in the league. Brampton is now 12-11 on the season.
After scoring the first four points of the contest, the A's faced a tough offensive Storm that shot a lethal 58 percent from three-point range. Despite gaining a 28-8 advantage in the paint, the A's headed to the locker room down 52-39.
Akeem Scott and TyShwan Edmondson led the A's at the half with seven points apiece, while Michael Martin led all scorers with 17 points.
Brampton started the second half with a more aggressive approach and went on a surge that allowed them to cut a once 19 point lead to six points. At the two minute mark, the A's were within striking distance in which Ashton Smith drove to the basket through his defenders for two, narrowing the deficit to one. Unfortunately a three-point dagger by Sammy Zeglinski of the Storm solidified the victory amidst a great effort by the home team.
Scott finished the game with 23 points, while Akeem Ellis recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Martin concluded the game with 23 points for the Storm.
The A's will hit the hardwood at the Powerade Centre tomorrow for a 7 pm match-up against the London Lightning. Last weekend, the A's defeated the Lightning in London. Tomorrow's game marks "BMO Fan Appreciation Night", all BMO clients who show their debit or MasterCard will receive special VIP treatment. For tickets visit www.bramptonas.ca.
