A's Streak Snapped by Miracles

December 6, 2014 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Orangeville A's News Release

MONCTON, NB. - The Brampton A's handed the Moncton Miracles its second win of the season as they fell 125-111 on the road. The A's now move to 4-6, snapping a four game win streak.

The A's and Miracles traded baskets early on to keep the score respectively within reach. Brampton managed to convert on a few baskets throughout the half and jumped out to a consistent single digit lead midway through the second quarter. Just when it seemed like the A's were in full control of the game, Moncton received a miracle from former A's player, Daquan Brooks. Brooks confidently controlled his new team's offence and also connected on key shots evening the score at the end of the half.

Brampton's inability to dominate early on was due to 12 turnovers in which the Miracles turned into 15 points. Flenard Whitfield led the A's at the half with 15 points and seven rebounds, while Brooks recorded 15 points for the Miracles.

The A's led by as many as four in the third quarter before Moncton went on a run to shake up Brampton. The Miracles took advantage of the A's, who appeared to be out of sync offensively, and embarked on a double digit lead for the majority of the final period.

Despite the A's effort on the boards as they out rebounded the Miracles, 22 total turnovers made way for their opponents to stamp its second win.

Richard Amardi registered 21 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for the A's, while Akeem Scott added 20 points. Four other A's ended the game in double figures including Cavell Johnson's 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks stat line. Daquan Brooks led all scorers with 29 points in his Moncton debut.

The Brampton A's will return home for their match-up against the Windsor Express next Saturday. Action at the Powerade Centre is set for 7pm. For single game tickets, group rates, and flex packs please email tickets@bramptonas.ca or visit www.bramptonas.ca.
