Erie Otters News Release
Erie, Pennsylvania - Back-to-back 4-3 overtime wins for the Erie Otters bring them back home for a weekend pair against the Owen Sound Attack, starting on Friday night. After losing Captain Cameron Morton on Thursday night from a match penalty, the Overage Defenseman would return to the Otter lineup after the league found the penalty not suspension-worthy. Taking on an Owen Sound team that tops the Midwest Division, the Erie Otters would look to keep their recent success alive.
Erie would come out shooting in the first period of play, taking a 16-5 shot advantage over the Owen Sound Attack. Despite the hot-shooting start, it would be the Attack who would strike for first blood, as Deni Goure (4) would circle around the back of the net, and find a loose puck to give Owen Sound a 1-0 lead 11:57 into the frame. Erie would trail for a few minutes, but continue to shoot the puck. With his first goal of the season, Taeo Artichuk (1), would put Erie back in a tie-game, and send the Otters to intermission knotted up at 1-1.
Owen Sound would flip the script in their favor in the second period, starting off almost immediately. Just 4:04 into the new frame, Cedrick Guindon (3) would put the Attack back on top, 2-1. The heavy-shooting Attack would continue, as Owen Sound would grab a two-goal lead thanks to Matthew Papais (4, PP) tipping one through. Outshooting the Otters 13-8 in the second, the Otters would trail 3-1 after 40 minutes of play on home ice.
The Otters would grab power play opportunities in the third, but be unable to convert despite outshooting the Attack 10-9. Meanwhile on the Owen Sound side, Deni Goure (5) would grab his second goal of the night 7:28 in, and Gavin Bryant (3) would put away the game's final goal 17:02 in. Owen Sound would extend its winning streak to four-straight, and continue to sit alone atop the Midwest Division.
The first three-in-three of the season closes for the Otters closes out on Saturday night, as the Owen Sound Attack stay in town for Erie's Pucks & Paws Night (pres. by PNC). The first 1000 fans through the door will receive a free PNC Collapsible Dog Bowl. Fans will be delighted and entertained with great events around the arena, including Dog Races during the intermission.
